Gas Safety Training – End User

Role-based training for anyone who uses gases at the point of work. Covers safe cylinder handling and storage, basic properties and hazards, correct use of regulators, simple checks, and what to do in the event of a leak or incident—helping your teams work safely and confidently.​

Course Format

  • Duration: Typically ½ day (can be adjusted to suit site requirements)

  • Delivery:

    • Bespoke on-site training for operational teams

    • Classroom-based delivery at an agreed location

  • Learning methods:

    • Classroom theory

    • Practical demonstrations

    • Scenario-based discussion

    • Knowledge check

Course Content

The programme covers core gas safety principles required for safe point-of-use activities, including:

​

  • Basic properties of commonly used compressed and specialist gases

  • Typical hazards associated with gas use (pressure, flammability, toxicity, oxygen deficiency)

  • Safe cylinder handling, movement, and securing

  • Correct storage arrangements and segregation principles

  • Use of regulators and connections at the point of use

  • Visual and functional checks before use

  • Identifying signs of leaks, damage, or abnormal conditions

  • Immediate actions to take in the event of a leak or suspected gas release

  • Site-specific emergency response and escalation routes

  • User responsibilities and safe working behaviours

Practical demonstrations and scenario-based exercises are integrated throughout the course to reinforce learning and support real-world application.

​Assessment & Certification

The course includes a short knowledge check to confirm understanding of key gas safety principles and user responsibilities.

Delegates who complete the training receive certification confirming completion of Gas Safety Training – End User.​
