RP (Responsible Person)

The Responsible Person (MGPS) supports the safe day-to-day operation of the Medical Gas Pipeline System by overseeing routine maintenance and low-hazard works either supporting a site AP or acting for low hazard works at a site which a full time AP is not practical. The role includes managing low-hazard permits-to-work (including interruptions, contingency planning, permissions to work and “Do not use” plugs), reporting faults and responding to alarms/emergencies, and specifying appropriate verification testing after minor repairs. They also control MGPS keys, labelling of AVSUs/LVAs, and the safe storage and use of MGPS test and emergency supply equipment, cylinders, plant and manifold areas, including the safe setup and monitoring of back feed arrangements when required.
